SERVICE TO COMMUNITIES

As part of our mission to promote character development and service to communities, we are committed to teaching young people critical life-long skills such as collaboration, resourcefulness and accountability. Pupils take on increasingly responsible leadership roles that culminate in Leadership and Social Enterprise Projects in which they identify a community concern and then plan, execute and evaluate a project to address it.

Pupils will be expected, as part of this element of the curriculum, to be involved in choosing the projects they will develop and in raising charitable funds.

Our pupils have taken on the role of community wardens, picking up litter in our local parks to help conserve the environment and make our neighbourhood tidier. They have also volunteered with the Bradford Food Bank, collecting non-perishable items and helping to distribute food parcels to those in need.

Our pupils are regular visitors to local nursing homes and often sing for the elderly residents to help brighten up their day. They know the residents aren’t able to get out and about very often and that visitors can be scarce, so our pupils decided to raise funds to facilitate more trips and outings for them.

Our pupils also held a Coffee Morning and bake sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
