Barkerend’s NEW uniform has been carefully chosen for its practicality, comfort and smartness. We aim to give our pupils a sense of pride in their appearance and establish the school’s identity within the local community.

From Reception year onwards, children will be expected to wear a school uniform as follows:

• Red sweatshirt or cardigan with the Academy logo
• Plain white polo shirt
• Grey trousers/skirt/pinafore or shalwar kameez
• Red gingham dress (optional, summer term only)
• Plain white/grey ankle socks or grey tights (Girls)
• Plain black/grey socks (Boys)
• Plain black flat shoes. No trainers or open-toe shoes
• Grey blazer with red piping (provided by school)
• Plain white shirt
• Red Academy tie (provided by school)
• Grey trousers/skirt/pinafore or shalwar kameez
• Plain white/grey ankle socks or grey tights (Girls)
• Plain black/grey socks (Boys)
• Plain black flat shoes. No trainers or open-toe shoes

Jewellery, with the exception of stud type earrings, should not be worn for health and safety reasons and to promote the smart appearance of pupils when in uniform.

All uniforms should be clearly labelled with the child’s full name and class.

PE Kit for All Pupils
  • Black shorts or jogging trousers
  • White T-shirt (no logo)
  • Black pumps (Years 1 to 6)

For health and safety reasons, all headscarves and prayer necklaces should be able to be removed for the duration of PE lessons. All PE kit must be labelled with your child’s full name and brought to school in a small PE bag.

For 2018 – 19 there is no requirement for children to wear a uniform in Nursery. If parents would like their children to wear a red top in line with the rest of the school, they are welcome to purchase these either from their local shop or from the School Office.

It would be helpful for the children if they could wear jogging bottoms or elasticated waists to make it easier for them when going to the toilet. Sensible shoes or trainers are essential for their safety when playing. Please ensure your child’s full name is written in their coat.
For PE lessons all children are expected to wear a PE kit. In Reception classes, a vest and pants may be worn but parents may prefer their child to wear a PE kit as described above.

For 2019 – 20 in order for Nursery children to feel part of the school we are requesting that they wear the following uniform:

  • white polo shirt
  • red jumper (preferably with a school logo)
  • grey jogging bottoms or leggings
  • black trainers or shoes with Velcro fastenings
  • PE Kit as set out above

Teachers will inform pupils and parents/carers when PE lessons will take place at the start of the school year. Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is in school on the appropriate days.

Please ensure your child’s full name is written in all clothes.
