Earlier in the term the whole school celebrated World Book Day on 7th March. The whole school theme this year was Heroes and Villains, staff and pupils dressed up as their favourite Hero or Villain sharing their love of reading. Teachers visited different classes to read their favourite stories to pupils, showing just how everyone can enjoy becoming lost in the new world presented within a book. Gangsta Granny roamed the school ‘collecting’ books in her sack, whilst Cruella De Vil made several appearances. In all classes children were exposed to a number of stories and poems and pupils wrote their own story involving a hero or villain. Years 3, 4 and 6 were lucky enough to be presented with their second book to take home as part of the Young Readers project sponsored by the Literacy Trust.

The excitement and buzz of a love of reading was felt across the school.
